Once
again storms have wreaked havoc in the area with over 90 litres per
square metre (3.5 inches) of rain falling in some areas in 24 hours,
this coupled with 90 km/h winds led to flooding and damage throughout
the region.
Firefighters in Manilva and Estepona were called out
to rescue people trapped in their homes and vehicles, and the Rio
Manilva Road was cut after one lane collapsed into the river at the
entrance to the fairground. Properties at the lower end of the Monteviņas urbanisation in Manilva have suffered damage due to subsidence on the hillside.
The MA-8300 road Casares-Casares Costa road suffered from a number of
major landslips and the beaches once again suffered from the high seas
and the debris swept down swollen rivers. In Estepona a number of urbanisations were cut off after the Rio Padron and Guadalobon rivers burst their banks.
